Pendants

This category of jewellery includes items that have holes or grooves for tying and attaching them to the body or clothing. At Dispilio, some 160 pendants made of raw materials such as shells, bones, stones and clay were found. Their use is varied. We cannot know whether the pendants were combined with the addition of other jewellery or sewn into clothing.

The term pendants is used conventionally, as for many of them it is not clear where they are placed on the human body. That is, they could have been used for neck or wrist adornment items, or even be parts of complex bracelets/bracelets for the legs or even the hair.
